Secondary Schools and Football Coaching
The SFA have lanched an initiative that will see every 1st year pupil being offered 4 hours football coaching a week. Great idea to get more kids involved in the sport, so will be interesting to see if the SRU tries anything similar for rugby.
Rugby: Schools Cup
The SRU are boasting about the record entry to this seasons Schools Cup.It is good news for the future of Scottish rugby, however it is a bit disappointing that none of the Cumbernauld Schools are entered for the competition.Something we will need to sort out for next year.
Stepping Down from the Alliance
Following a discussion with the Chair of the Alliance, I have decided to stand down as a Director, due to the possibility that at some point in the future there may be a clash of interest with the two projects.---Following the launch of :e-LearningNow: at the start of July, I have spent time over the summer planning the next couple of phases of this project. At the moment, :e-LearningNow: is primarily a news information service, but the plan does look to extend the services offered by the brand and website. I can therefore see that this may lead to a situation where some of the services it has been suggested the eLearning Alliance could offer and those of :e-LearningNow: may actually overlap. So following on from our earlier discussion, I feel I would be more comfortable stepping down from the Board of the Alliance to prevent any perception that there may be a clash of interest in what I do as a commercial venture and what I could be doing with the Alliance.
The Boy Who Cried
Here's hoping that the story run by The Register today is full of inaccuracies. For if it is true, it's another death knell for politicians selling scare stories via the mass media. The Government (however you wish to describe it), were fully responsible for the mass hysteria of the past week or so. If it turns out that it was a highly impracticable plot, then perhaps the next yarn they try to spin will be one too many.

The Internet Is People
New blog from Ben Werdmuller looking at the web, particularly in the field of education (where knowledge sharing is the essence of everything that happens).
Good Weekend
It was a good weekend for Cumbernauld Rugby, with two teams travelling to Tranent to take on Division 3 Ross High, and coming away with two hard earned victories. On top of the results, there was also the satisfaction that the higher league Club were expecting to put quite a number of points past us, but ended up with their tails between their legs. And then on Sunday the Cumbernauld Youth Rugby held a coaches meeting which signals the start of the new year for them. There are a number of new faces on the coaching team this year, and with more input from the senior Club, it is hoped that playing numbers can be radically boosted.
Milestones, Not Millstones
The current feature article on :e-LearningNow: is by Hanif Sazen of Saffron Interactive, and it describes the Milestones Planning approach to project management adopted by Saffron in their e-learning developments.
Glossy Starling
Glasgow may not be the centre of the universe when it comes to exotic birds, but it seems that a sighting at the Botanic Gardens is causing some constrenation as to the identity.
The latest discussion seems to point to it being a Greater Blue-eared Glossy Starling.
