:e-LN: Launch - Next Phase
It has taken longer than expected, but that is now most of the details loaded to the Suppliers Directory on :e-LearningNow:.The next phase of the launch process is to start the marketing aimed at getting users visiting the site on regular basis. The two initial stages of this process will be some press activity and some direct e-mailing.During the five years in business, Just Learn has pulled together a database of a couple of thousand people who have a direct interest in e-Learning, and most of the effort will concentrate on these contacts.
Resonating at the Appropriate Frequency
And then along comes another entry that resonates at an appropriate frequency.3 Sweet Tips to Boost Team Productivity tells us not to follow the gurus who base their writings on theories, debunking three myths in the process. And then the trizoko article goes on to share those three key tips:1) set astronomical expectations2) set short deadlines3) exploit individual strengths. Thanks to Steve Rucinski of Small Business CEO for pointing it out.(and as an aside, when I tune into things like this, and in fact when I get lost in my ideas, I find I am listening to music, not radio music that is filled with interuptions from links and adverts but from the vinyl, CD and MP3 collection - need to bear this in mind for the future.)
Making Ideas Happen
With an endless supply of ideas bouncing around the head, I find I have just as many excuses for not going forward with them - not good enough, someone else already doing it, it might fail, don't have the time, blah, blah, blah. But at least with :e-LearningNow: I have actually turned the long held idea into something tangible. Sure it has taken up most of my time, and to date I am still only in the phase 2 of the launch, with a seemingly endless list of suppliers to contact with an offer of a free trial period, whilst getting users signed up has been put on the back burner. But hey, this was never going to be a short-term, high return project. And now along comes an article that pretty well lists those excuses I have been using for many years. Well done Caroline Jalango at Motivation Zone, and David Lorenzo of the Career Intensity blog for pointing it out - spot on.
A80 to be Upgraded to Motorway
This will not be a popular announcement with a great many people from in and around Cumbernauld. There have been loads of people campaigning vigorously for the motorway to be routed via the Kelvin Valley, with of of the recent arguments being that this was always the intention from the outset.Don't know myself which route I prefer.Certainly Kelvin Valley takes the traffic nuisance away from a major population, but it also spoils a largerly untouched scenic landscape. I am also not clear of what the negative economic impact of taking a major orad artery away from Cumbernauld would be. Fair enough, I can't see the shops in Cumbernauld getting much passing trade with a motorway on their doorstep, but it does remove the town from the eye of those with money to invest.Scottish Executive announcement
:e-LearningNow: Successfully Launched
On July 1st, :e LearningNow: (the UKs newest on-line community dedicated to the use of technology in training and learning) launched across the education, public and private sectors.
For several years now, professional educators and trainers have been using technology to deliver learning experiences often in an ad hoc and experimental fashion, where many of the lessons learned about its' use have been retained within a close knit community. But the time is now right to bring together this extensive experience, best-practice and research and disseminate it to a wider audience (specifically to those who are looking to use information technology to add value to their training and educational experiences).
Aims of :e LearningNow:
The aim of :e LearningNow: is to fill the gaps which currently exist between the sectors involved in delivering training and education. With :e LearningNow: acting as the bridge between the sectors, it will reach out to educationalists, public sector users, corporate users and to industry suppliers. This will result in :e LearningNow: being the UKs premier e-Learning destination.
The initial launch of :e LearningNow:, will see it being rolled out to thousands of education and training specialists across the UK, giving them the opportunity to contribute to its' content and future direction, as well as giving them the ability to learn from other e-Learning practitioners.
