Borders Consortium Concedes Defeat

The BBC are reporting that the consortium which was formed to bring about a business plan to save the Borders REviers Pro Team have said they will now not be able to do so for the coming season.

Following the SRUs announcement a fortnight ago, some very strong words were made against the decision. However these politicians and businessmen should now eat their words (including the owner of Edinburgh Rugby), as it looks as though they to have come to similar conclusions as the SRU.

I'm sure the idea to resurrect the Reivers for season 2008/09 will now be very quickly forgotten about, but at least it should serve to dodge some press flack in the short term.

Pro Rugby in Scotland needs a radical rethink, which needs all stakeholders to put their cards on the table and reveal their intentions for Scottish rugby - Clubs, Councils, businesses.

In fact, it is probably not just Pro rugby that needs a radical rethink.
