D Day for Pro Rugby in Scotland
The SRU are to have a series of annoncements today which lays out the future direction of pro rugby.
There seems to be a great big divide between the CLubs and the SRU, but hey - the Clubs are the SRU, and we have an AGM on the 29th June where we can do something about it. However, as usual there will be no unity, and there will end up being no coherent strategy going forward. Clubs can't even agree on a league structure for their own competition.
Selling Murrayfield and building a stadium in a more central location could be a start at clearing off the debt.
Clubs being allowed to go pro would be an option. But then there is the issue of player contracts, international duty, CLub funding, etc. - but I'm sure there will be ways around these, even if it does mean a couple of Clubs going to the wall in the process.
